About The Position

The Aircraft Mechanic I - LUH-72 A&P performs maintenance on helicopters, excluding repair of systems according to drawings, blueprints, directives, technical manuals and safety procedures. This role involves removing and installing aircraft subsystem assemblies, servicing and lubricating aircraft, preparing aircraft for inspections, and performing scheduled and limited special inspections. The mechanic will also perform operational checks, assist in diagnosing and troubleshooting using special tools, and maintain tools and ground support equipment. Responsibilities include preparing maintenance forms and records, removing and disassembling defective parts, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and additional duties as requested. The role may require the use of Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) and adherence to company policies and safety programs with a safety-first mentality.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Valid FAA A&P Certificate Required.
Three years aviation maintenance experience, two years rotary wing aircraft experience, and two years on the assigned Mission Design Series (MDS). All experience must be within the six most recent years.
Valid Driver’s License.
Must provide own tools/toolbox. Tools must be shadowed in the toolbox and tools etched with PID. Recruiters will provide toolbox requirements to candidates upon selection. Minimum tool list and compliance of toolbox must be completed prior to start date.
Must be able to work, day shift, swing shift, night shift, and/or weekend shift (if applicable) – As required for CBA.
Must be eligible to obtain a Passport and be able to travel internationally (applicable to OCONUS work sites).
Must be willing and able to work any shift, as assigned by Union.
Must be able to work TDY assignments as applicable per the CBA.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a NAC-I (T1) Public Trust Security Clearance.
Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization to work at this facility.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a (Secret Clearance) US Government Clearance.

Thorough knowledge of aircraft systems on the assigned MDS.
Basic knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, hydraulic press machine, and those listed in the assigned MDS Maintenance Allocation Chart (MAC).
Working knowledge of technical publications and Logistics Information Systems.
Able to prioritize workloads to maintain schedules on assigned projects.
Possess the level of experience to inspect all required aeronautical type maintenance to be performed by aircraft mechanic.
The incumbent receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks, and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records.

Nice To Haves

U.S. military technical school or specialized training course is desired, certification of education level is required.

Responsibilities

Removes and installs aircraft subsystem assemblies such as engines, rotors, gearboxes, transmissions, mechanical flight controls and their components.
Services and lubricates aircraft and subsystems.
Prepare aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks.
Performs scheduled inspections and assists in performing special inspections.
Performs limited maintenance operational checks and assists in diagnosing and troubleshooting aircraft subsystems using special tools and equipment as required.
Uses and performs operator maintenance on tools, special tools and aircraft ground support equipment.
Prepare forms and records related to aircraft maintenance.
Removes and disassembles defective parts of the aircraft.
Maintains the supplies and perform preventive maintenance.
Performs additional duties including maintenance duties, as requested.
When required can use Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) for job duties.
Adheres to company policies and safety programs (Safety-first mentality).
