About The Position

This role requires an Aircraft Mechanic specializing in Avionics for the F5 Adversary Program. The mechanic will perform complex inspections, testing, troubleshooting, repair, modification, and rewiring of aircraft electrical and avionics systems. A strong understanding of maintenance manuals, special tools, and test equipment is essential, along with expertise in aircraft electrical/avionics systems and corrosion detection/prevention. The position involves coordination with customers, OEMs, and management to resolve technical issues, assist in report preparation, and potentially become aircraft turn-up certified, Plane Captain certified, or CDI/CDQAR certified. The role also includes assisting with engine removal/replacement, performing inventory and acceptance inspections, and providing technical assistance and guidance. Maintaining accurate records, practicing good housekeeping, tool control, and FOD prevention are critical. The mechanic will also operate support equipment, comply with hazardous waste programs, and understand basic supply procedures, including ordering parts and materials. Adherence to safety rules and regulations is mandatory, along with participation in hangar cleanups and flight line foreign object prevention walks.

Requirements

  • Three years of experience within the last eight years in their specific aircraft maintenance occupational field.
  • The last two years must have been in the military; civil service (WG-7-10), or with a government aviation maintenance Contractor.
  • Successfully completed approved course or training as required by Company, State/Local Govt, DOD, regulation/Instruction.
  • Experience in corrosion detection, treatment, and prevention.
  • Qualified according to their field of expertise and the level of maintenance assigned, i.e., “O” or “I” level.
  • Capable of cross-training into or assisting other specialties.
  • Must be capable of becoming Plane Captain certified when directed by management IAW a Government approved certification program for each TMS of aircraft.
  • Possess or be able to obtain a secret clearance.
  • Must be a US citizen and completed high school or equivalent.
  • Experience writing with clarity and technical accuracy.
  • Must read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of applicable maintenance/technical manuals and publications, and special tools and test equipment.
  • Familiar with operational capabilities and limitations of electrical/avionics systems.
  • High degree of expertise of aircraft electrical/avionics systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspection, testing, troubleshooting, repair, modification, and rewiring of complex avionics/electrical systems and subsystems.
  • Possess a thorough working knowledge of the detection, prevention, and treatment of corrosion.
  • Coordinate with customer, OEM, management, and work centers to resolve questions concerning aircraft and/or aircraft systems modifications and repairs.
  • Assist in P&E report preparation.
  • Become aircraft turn-up certified as directed by management.
  • Assist in the removal and replacement of aircraft engines utilizing appropriate support equipment.
  • Perform aircraft inventory, acceptance, and transfer inspections.
  • Become Plane Captain certified when directed by management.
  • Provide technical assistance, guidance, and instruction as required.
  • Maintain and/or complete required records and applicable maintenance forms.
  • Become CDI/CDQAR certified as directed by management to perform collateral duty inspection assignments.
  • Perform daily duties normally associated with this specialty.
  • Practice good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness/prevention, and safety at all times.
  • Assist in aircraft/equipment movement and flight line foreign object prevention walks.
  • Comply with Hazardous Waste Program.
  • Operate SE, flight line vehicles, and other support equipment as required.
  • Perform corrosion detection, treatment, prevention, and documentation per customer/management instructions/directions on aircraft and associated equipment.
  • Annotate maintenance actions in aircraft forms and VIDS/MAF and NALCOMIS/OOMA.
  • Assist with ordering parts, tools, materials, and equipment as required.
  • Comply with established General and Industrial Safety Rules and Regulations.
  • Participate in daily hanger cleanups.
