Aircraft Fueler
About The Position
The Aircraft Fueler is responsible for safely and efficiently fueling and defueling aircraft and providing related airport services. The role involves operating fuel trucks, hydrant carts, and stationary carts; using basic math to interpret aircraft weight and balance loading instructions; and accurately accounting for fuel transactions. The position also requires maintaining equipment and a safe, secure work environment in accordance with applicable health, safety, security, and compliance procedures. Work is performed primarily outdoors in all weather conditions at John Wayne Airport.
Requirements
- Proficiently read, write, and speak English.
- Perform basic math calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division involving weight, measurement, and volume.
- Lift and move up to 70 pounds while handling fueling carts and hoses.
- Be comfortable working primarily outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Be available and flexible to work variable shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience, including possession of a Commercial Driver’s License or experience in the oil and gas industry.
Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently fuel aircraft using fuel trucks, hydrant carts, and stationary carts.
- Accurately account for fuel transactions.
- Perform daily quality-control checks on equipment and keep equipment clean and functional.
- Ensure the correct loading and balancing of fuel.
- Defuel aircraft as directed.
- Take reasonable care of personal and others’ health, safety, and wellbeing, following provided training and workplace procedures.
