About The Position

Airbus Americas, Inc is looking for a Aircraft Certifying Manager (2nd Shift) to join our team based in Mobile, AL. The A220 Aircraft Certifying Manager (2nd Shift) is responsible to collect, review, and sign aircraft documentation to ensure the "As-Built" status is in line with and finally equal to the "Target Configuration". This position is also responsible for the issuance of the Aircraft Statement of Conformity and/or Transport Canada Export Airworthiness Certificate.

Requirements

  • Having a professional education in aeronautical maintenance or engineering, specializing in aviation technology or an equivalent amount of work experience.
  • Have at least 10 years' experience in an aeronautical field (production, maintenance, and engineering) 3 of which are practical experience with respect to Transport Canada airworthiness certification and in regulatory requirements for the FAA.
  • Hold an AME M2 or E license or FAA A&P license.
  • Acquired 48 months of experience in aviation AND acquired 24 month of experience on large
  • Competency to understand Company conformity attestation processes.
  • Skill and knowledge of Company configuration management rules and Aviation Regulation (TCCA CAR 561 and Company Production Organization Manual)
  • General knowledge of Aeronautical Regulations; Production Organization Approval (POA), preferable TCCA and FAA
  • General knowledge of Aerospace Industry Standards.
  • Knowledge of Configuration Management Basics.
  • General familiarization of the aircraft and systems.
  • Managing or writing procedural or instructional documentation.
  • Knowledge of Problem Solving Methods (PPS, 5 Why, etc.)
  • Knowledge of aircraft assemblies including nomenclature, serial numbers and other key elements related to aircraft parts.
  • Familiarity with FAL production processes and the timing of activities for planning.
  • Must understand the link between Aeronautical Regulations, Industry Standards, and Company Directives & Methods.
  • Must understand how Company internal documentation links with the certification of the aircraft.
  • Must be able to present the work performed to confirm compliance to requirements.
  • Must be able to demonstrate competencies required to fulfill the assignment.
  • Must be organized and able to manage large amounts of data in an effective manner.
  • Able to read, write and speak English proficiently.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate complex issues to target audiences and coordinate actions which lead to proper resolutions.
  • Full Independent decision making in such a manner that public confidence and trust is maintained with integrity, objectivity, and impartiality.

  • Vision: able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings.
  • Hearing: able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on production floor including safety warnings or alarms.
  • Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.
  • Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts.
  • Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
  • Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
  • Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.
  • Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer.
  • Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.
  • Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on production floor.
  • Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice.
  • Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that aircraft documentation is up to date and the "As-Built" status is in line with the “As Designed” target definition. This documentation includes (but is not limited to): As-Built Component Listing (ABCL), Functional Test Plans (FTP's), Certificates of Conformance (C of C's), Engineering Configuration Statement (ECS), Technical Logbook (TLB), Quality Logbook (QLB).
  • Establish, analyze and validate ABCL under responsibility of Final Assembly Line (FAL), Plant, or Supplier as assigned.
  • Issue the Aircraft Statement of Conformity and/or Transport Canada Export Airworthiness Certificate.
  • Transmit files pertaining to Aircraft Certification activities to Transport Canada.
  • Assist FAA Designated Airworthiness Representative (DAR) for the issuance of FAA Certificate of Airworthiness.
  • Report to Transport Canada of Export activities and attend all required TCCA training.
  • Maintain Transport Canada embossing seal and stamps per TCCA regulation.
  • Transmit files pertaining to Aircraft activities to Transport Canada.
  • Investigate, solve, or justify conformity discrepancies.
  • Manage the resolution of all discrepancies at aircraft level in strong coordination with internal / external contacts (Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Quality, I.T. etc.).
  • Check the conformity status of all Constituent Assemblies (CA) integrated in the aircraft.
  • Attend status meetings and be able and willing to represent the Conformity Department.
  • Collect, review and file documentation relevant to support the build and sell of aircraft
  • Other duties as assigned.
