Requirements

  • Two years of experience as an Air Quality Specialist (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
  • One year of experience as an Air Monitoring Program Supervisor (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
  • Three years of professional work in the control and abatement of air pollution and a Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, or an environmental field closely related to Air Quality Management
  • An equivalent combination of experience and/or training
  • Possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver's license

Responsibilities

  • Prepare air quality forecasts and declare action days when pollution levels may exceed standards
  • Analyze monitored and forecasted data to identify exceedances and improve forecasting accuracy
  • Maintain forecasting tools and ensure information on public platforms is accurate and up to date
  • Work with federal, state, and local partners to share data and support forecasting efforts
  • Develop reports, guidance documents, and communications related to air quality forecasting
  • Enter required information into electronic systems while ensuring accuracy and completeness
