About The Position

AECOM is seeking an experienced Air Quality Monitoring Operator II to join our Ambient Air Monitoring team in Austin, TX. In this role, the successful candidate will be a part of the AAM operations team, primarily working independently, but regularly interfacing with their fellow team members, AECOM managers, clients, and contractors. You will focus on the preparation, execution, and reporting of air monitoring sites within central Texas. As a member of the AAM Operations Team, the candidate will have the following responsibilities: Collaborate and work as part of a team of scientists that provide air quality monitoring services. Work directly with instrumentation, technicians, and data validators to operate air measurement instrumentation. Use hand and power tools to calibrate, maintain, test, and operate air monitoring instrumentation and equipment. Understand and perform calibration and documentation protocols. Collect, organize, and prepare data for reporting. Travel to air monitoring locations across Central Texas and the United States to conduct calibrations, repairs, and perform routine preventative maintenance on air monitoring equipment. Requirements

  • B.S. degree in environmental science, chemistry, atmospheric science, environmental engineering or related.
  • 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education in ambient air monitoring data and analyzers and instrumentation operation and repairs.
  • Due to the nature of work, US citizenship is required.
  • Willingness and ability to local travel up to 70% of the time, with some travel requiring overnight stays (less than 30% of the time).
  • Valid US Driver's License and pre-employment driving record verification is required.

Nice To Haves

  • 4+ years of relevant work experience in ambient air monitoring.
  • Environmental sampling experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Aptitude for working independently and within a team.
  • Occasional lifting of air monitoring instrumentation and other ancillary equipment.
