Requirements

  • Current Texas licensure/certification as: Registered Nurse (RN), and/or EMT-Paramedic
  • Current CFRN and/or FP-C certification
  • Current proficiency in Flight Operations medical team member training
  • Currently practicing as a Flight Nurse and/or Flight Paramedic
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and computer systems
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding patient and personnel information

Responsibilities

  • Fostering and developing positive collaboration between CareFlite staff and their internal and external customers.
  • Ensuring CareFlite personnel promote a positive image in all aspects of their operations.
  • Ensuring team members follow the CareFlite scope of practice, including policy and procedures.
  • Ensuring the highest-quality patient care is delivered in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner, in accordance with regional and national standards.
  • Functioning as an air medical crew member on a full-time basis and maintaining all skills and certifications necessary to function in that capacity.
  • Ensuring that the daily responsibilities of the base are completed.
  • Reviewing narcotic forms for appropriate signatures/completion.
  • Reviewing blood-tracking logs to ensure they are signed and appropriately completed.
  • Attending or appointing a base safety representative.
  • Working with the Clinical Operations Manager to ensure assigned training is completed.
  • Completing base supply, narcotic inventory, and blood expiration dates. Notifying the assigned Air Clinical Operations Supervisor promptly to ensure delivery of needed supplies.
  • Overseeing the shift for which they are assigned, eight air bases, and one critical care truck.
  • Staffing and scheduling.
  • Being the point of contact for crew callouts and/or shift-related issues that require immediate attention.
  • Keeping track of and forwarding in a daily report to the clinical operations supervisors all issues that arose during the shift.
  • Reviewing charts for QUEST/Clinical Quality. Returning charts to flight crews as needed to clarify adherence to guidelines and procedures. Notifying the Air Operations Manager of charts requiring immediate review or follow-up through the CQI process.
  • Completing other temporary duties assigned by the Supervisor.
