About The Position

The Cafeteria Worker supports the mission and values of Ste Genevieve Catholic Church, Ste Genevieve, a Catholic educational community, by providing nutritious and appealing meals in a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. This position assists in food preparation, serving, cleanup, and maintaining compliance with health, safety, and diocesan food service standards.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of basic food preparation, sanitation, and safety practices.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to the values and mission of Catholic education.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • Prior experience in food service or cafeteria work (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook, and serve meals according to planned menus and portion guidelines.
  • Assist in setting up and breaking down serving lines and dining areas.
  • Ensure proper food handling, storage, and sanitation in compliance with local health regulations.
  • Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order in kitchen, dining, and storage areas.
  • Monitor food and supply inventory and notify the Cafeteria Manager of shortages.
  • Assist with receiving and storing food deliveries.
  • Follow established safety and emergency procedures.
  • Interact respectfully and courteously with students, staff, and visitors, reflecting the Catholic values and mission of the school.
  • Support a positive dining atmosphere that encourages good manners, responsibility, and community.
  • Participate in staff meetings and required training sessions.
