About The Position

At Pencil, the AI Transformation Lead is the strategic and technical owner of transformation engagements for a defined set of accounts. The role determines what Pencil should do for each client and how the work should be delivered, setting the transformation thesis, structuring engagements from first principles, co-designing recommendations and timelines with Forward Deployed Engineers and Creative Leads, and leading clients through the enterprise-wide change needed to make adoption stick. The role owns client recommendations and the transformation narrative, and is accountable for quality and performance after launch. The position translates ambiguous client challenges into actionable hypotheses, workstreams, and sequenced decisions; designs repeatable AI-enabled operating processes; and helps organizations move from isolated pilots to integrated workflows. It also represents customer needs internally to Product and Engineering and codifies successful engagements into reusable Transformation Blueprints. The successful candidate is comfortable with ambiguity, senior client stakeholders, and technical discussions, and is hands-on with Pencil and AI tools. Success is measured by enterprise adoption, time-to-value, the quality and performance of transformation recommendations, the impact of product feedback, and contribution to reusable blueprints.
