AI Tech Lead Manager / Engineering Manager

Loop•San Francisco, CA
•$200,000 - $250,000•Onsite

About The Position

As an AI Tech Lead Manager / Engineering Manager, you will lead a small team of engineers while remaining deeply hands-on in the code. Reporting directly to the Director of Engineering, you will own your team’s technical direction and support the growth of its people. Approximately half of your week will be spent writing and reviewing production code, with the other half devoted to hiring, developing people, setting direction, and defining expectations for high-quality work. You will initially lead a team of 3–5 engineers responsible for agentic automation in carrier expansion, with the opportunity to expand that scope over time in collaboration with leadership. This is an in-person role based in San Francisco, with an expectation of being in the office at least four days per week. You will build and ship the AI harness—including data pipelines, schemas, validation, and feedback loops—that enables agents to work reliably at scale. The approach emphasizes defining outcomes, data, and success criteria rather than prescribing specific logic, allowing agents to produce and validate work against real data. You will write extensible, high-quality code across frontend, backend, infrastructure, and AI systems, and help maintain a high engineering bar through code reviews. The technology stack includes AWS, CDK, Fargate ECS, TypeScript, Node.js, Prisma, NestJS, PostgreSQL, Kafka, Redis, Elasticsearch, GraphQL, React, Relay, Ant Design, Vite, LLMs, prompt engineering, agentic workflows, and Loop’s internal AI platform. The annual base pay range is $200,000–$250,000. Actual compensation depends on job-related factors, including experience, skills, qualifications, location, and business needs. The role may be eligible for equity and includes health, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) match, paid time off, paid holidays, and parental leave. Loop may provide employment visa sponsorship; green card sponsorship may be available depending on business needs and eligibility.
