AI Strategist - Deployed

Mason•San Francisco, CA

About The Position

The AI Strategist embeds with customer operators and executives to identify where AI can create meaningful business impact, understand workflows and data, and turn findings into deployment plans. The role combines customer engagement leadership with hands-on software development: writing code, testing ideas, building prototypes and API integrations, and debugging alongside engineers. The strategist owns engagements through rollout and adoption, measures whether customer work improves, and converts lessons from the field into product decisions, deployment practices, and tools for future customers. The role works directly with Mason’s founders and decision makers at firms managing billions in AUM, with opportunities to influence the product, deployment approach, and team.

Requirements

  • Executive presence, including the ability to turn difficult requests into workable plans and communicate hard messages while maintaining trust.
  • Strong coding skills in Python, TypeScript, or a similar language.
  • Ability to independently write, test, and debug software, build API integrations, and work in an existing codebase.
  • Product judgment, ability to learn quickly, and responsibility for outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Work with executives and operators to understand workflows, data, exceptions, and the value of potential improvements.
  • Define solution scope, priorities, and success measures.
  • Write code, work with customer data and APIs, and build working prototypes to test assumptions.
  • Own the engagement roadmap, customer communication, expectations, and decisions that keep delivery moving.
  • Contribute code and debug integrations alongside engineers.
  • Lead rollout, training, and adoption, and measure whether customer work improves.
  • Turn field lessons into product decisions, deployment practices, and tools for future customers.
