AI Software Engineer

Vantor•Herndon, VA

About The Position

Vantor is hiring an AI Software Engineer for its Insights team, which develops an AI-native, agentic intelligence platform that turns geospatial data into predictive signals and actionable intelligence. The platform serves customers in high-stakes environments, including national security and global enterprise operations, and is built using Google Cloud infrastructure, generative AI models, and collaboration with Google Research. The engineer will design, develop, and deploy AI-native software products and multi-agent workflows; integrate large language models; build data ingestion and transformation capabilities; and deliver secure, scalable AI systems. The role also involves operating production systems using modern DevOps practices, applying AI development agents to engineering work, and contributing to shared standards and documentation. Applicants must be a U.S. Person; the minimum qualifications also specify U.S. citizenship.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen; the posting also states that eligible U.S. Persons include citizens, permanent residents, Asylees, and Refugees.
  • Seven years of proven experience in a relevant technology domain; preference for software engineering and AI/ML experience.
  • Strong understanding of technical concepts related to cloud-based data and machine-learning pipelines, such as AWS or GCP.
  • Significant software development experience with Python, JavaScript, or similar languages.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with remote or geographically distributed teams.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree; preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with vector databases, embeddings, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) architectures.
  • Knowledge of distributed systems design and high-availability architectures for global-scale workloads.
  • Experience leveraging AI to increase team velocity and upskill, including heavy use of AI-assisted development, rapid prototyping, automating repetitive engineering tasks, and accelerating delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy AI-native software products that transform large-scale geospatial data into actionable intelligence and mission-critical insights.
  • Implement multi-agent workflows using orchestration frameworks such as Google ADK, LangChain, and LangGraph to support autonomous reasoning, planning, and execution.
  • Integrate large language models such as GPT-4, Claude, and Gemini for contextual analysis, hypothesis generation, and adaptive decision-making.
  • Engineer agents that use tools dynamically, reason in structured ways, and iteratively self-refine to improve insight quality.
  • Develop data ingestion and transformation layers for pattern-of-life analysis, detection, anomaly identification, and predictive analytics.
  • Build secure, scalable integrations across cloud and enterprise environments.
  • Create feedback loops and reinforcement mechanisms to improve model reliability and operational trustworthiness.
  • Deploy and operate production AI systems using modern DevOps practices, including containerization, orchestration, and CI/CD.
  • Use AI development agents such as Codex, Gemini CLI, and Claude Code to support software design, implementation, testing, and documentation.
  • Contribute to shared engineering standards, documentation, and best practices for AI-first development.

Benefits

  • Robust 401(k) with company match.
  • Mental health resources.
  • Student loan repayment assistance.
  • Adoption reimbursement.
  • Pet insurance.
  • Incentive eligible, with a target based on contribution, company performance, and/or individual results; the specific plan and target amount depend on the role and scope of contributions.
