About The Position

CapCenter is seeking an AI Software Engineer to design, build, and deploy software solutions that improve internal mortgage operations and external customer experiences. The role combines software engineering, artificial intelligence, cloud-native infrastructure, and mortgage-industry problem-solving to increase efficiency, improve customer engagement, and support data-driven decision-making. The engineer will develop AI-enabled applications, operate production workloads on Microsoft Azure, and partner with teams across operations, lending, compliance, marketing, customer experience, and data engineering. The position also contributes to model quality, responsible AI practices, technical standards, and CapCenter’s longer-term AI strategy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3–5+ years of software engineering experience building web or backend applications.
  • Hands-on experience with machine learning or generative AI tools, such as OpenAI, Anthropic, HuggingFace, LangChain, or vector databases.
  • Proficiency in Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, or C#.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Azure, including hands-on experience deploying, securing, and operating production workloads across compute, networking, identity, storage, and Key Vault.
  • Experience with containers and Kubernetes, preferably AKS, including deployments, services, ingress, configuration and secrets, autoscaling, and debugging workloads with kubectl.
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for containerized applications.
  • Understanding of APIs, microservices, and modern software architecture patterns.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to map operational processes to technical solutions.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and communicate complex concepts to non-technical teams.
  • Ownership of production systems from architecture through deployment, monitoring, and incident response.
  • Curiosity about new AI capabilities.
  • Commitment to data security, fair lending, and responsible AI use.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in fintech or mortgage/lending systems.
  • Familiarity with mortgage workflows such as LOS, POS, underwriting, rate/pricing engines, and compliance considerations.
  • Microsoft Azure certifications such as AZ-204, AZ-104, AZ-305, or AI-102, and/or Kubernetes certifications such as CKA or CKAD.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Bicep and GitOps or Helm-based deployment workflows.
  • Experience deploying and scaling AI/LLM workloads on Azure, including Azure OpenAI, AI Foundry, or self-hosted models on AKS.
  • Knowledge of MLOps tools and frameworks for model deployment.
  • Experience building customer-facing digital experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, develop, and deploy AI-powered applications for internal mortgage operations, including loan processing, underwriting automation, compliance checks, and workflow optimization.
  • Build customer- and marketing-facing software, such as chat assistants, loan recommendation engines, prequalification tools, and interactive calculators.
  • Integrate large language models, predictive models, and generative AI into new or existing products using modern frameworks and APIs.
  • Design, deploy, and operate applications on Microsoft Azure, including services such as AKS, App Service, Azure Functions, Azure SQL, Storage, Key Vault, and Azure OpenAI or AI Foundry.
  • Containerize applications with Docker and run them on Kubernetes; maintain manifests and Helm charts and manage deployments, scaling, ingress, secrets, and resource limits.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
  • Manage cloud resources using infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.
  • Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting with Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and Log Analytics; maintain production AI services and troubleshoot cluster and application issues.
  • Apply cloud security practices including Entra ID identity and role-based access, managed identities, network isolation, and secure secrets handling to protect sensitive borrower information.
  • Optimize cloud cost and performance for AI workloads, including model hosting, inference scaling, and GPU or compute usage.
  • Partner with operations, loan officers, compliance, marketing, and customer experience teams to identify AI use cases and turn them into scalable products.
  • Work with data engineering to source, prepare, and validate datasets for model training and evaluation.
  • Develop secure, compliant, and documented systems aligned with mortgage regulatory requirements.
  • Train, fine-tune, or customize AI models to improve accuracy, performance, and relevance to mortgage workflows.
  • Implement continuous monitoring, versioning, and quality checks for AI models in production.
  • Evaluate emerging AI technologies and recommend adoption paths.
  • Establish development standards for AI-enabled software, including testing, documentation, and model governance.
  • Guide responsible AI use, data protection, and fair lending considerations in deployments.
  • Contribute to the long-term AI strategy for modernizing CapCenter’s technology stack and customer experience.
