About The Position

Ford is seeking an AI Platform Engineer to design, develop, and deploy software capabilities for its enterprise AI and analytics platforms. The role builds and operates full-stack solutions, including user-facing applications, backend services and APIs, platform integrations, data services, and cloud deployment workflows. The position combines software engineering, cloud infrastructure, data and platform integration, DevSecOps, and production operations. The engineer collaborates with Product, Design, Data, Security, and Operations partners to deliver secure, reliable, and maintainable platform capabilities. As product needs require, the role integrates machine-learning and generative-AI services—including retrieval and agent-based workflows—into production-ready applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in computer science, information technology, or a technology-related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • At least 4 years of professional software-engineering experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience with a modern frontend framework such as Angular, React, or Vue.
  • At least 3 years of experience with a backend framework such as FastAPI, Flask, Django, or Spring Boot.
  • At least 2 years of experience with Python and/or Java.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on Google Cloud Platform experience, including compute, storage, networking, and IAM.
  • At least 2 years of experience authoring and maintaining infrastructure as code using Terraform modules, including remote state management and CI/CD-driven plan and apply workflows.
  • Experience in full-stack software development, including frontend applications, backend services, REST APIs, and integrations.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD, automated testing, code-quality checks, and security practices.
  • Understanding of production operations, including service monitoring, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
  • Experience collaborating with product, design, data, security, and operations partners.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
  • Experience integrating LLM APIs or open-source models into software applications.
  • Experience with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), model evaluation, data grounding, or agentic workflows.
  • Experience with LLM orchestration or multi-agent frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, CrewAI, AutoGen, or Semantic Kernel.
  • GCP certification or experience with cloud CI/CD tools such as Cloud Build or Tekton.
  • Experience with AWS or Azure.
  • Knowledge of software quality standards and practices, including clean code, automated testing, test-driven development, and pair programming.
  • Experience working in Agile teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test, and maintain web applications, backend services, REST APIs, and integrations supporting enterprise analytics and AI-platform use cases.
  • Develop dependable interfaces between platform components and other enterprise systems.
  • Translate product and platform needs into technical designs, API specifications, and implementation plans.
  • Build maintainable software supporting platform reliability, usability, and ongoing development.
  • Implement approved integrations with model-serving and AI services.
  • Build and maintain retrieval, data-grounding, and workflow-orchestration components as needed.
  • Apply appropriate evaluation, access controls, monitoring, and failure handling to AI-enabled capabilities.
  • Collaborate with product and technical partners to incorporate AI capabilities into production-ready applications.
  • Design, provision, and maintain Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environments and services using Terraform.
  • Develop and maintain reusable Terraform modules, environment-promotion workflows, state management, IAM, and secure configuration.
  • Support repeatable, controlled infrastructure changes through CI/CD-driven plan and apply workflows.
  • Develop data-ingestion, transformation, and service-integration components.
  • Work with structured and unstructured data sources to support platform functionality and help ensure reliable data flows and interfaces.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD workflows that support consistent and safe deployments.
  • Implement automated testing, code-quality checks, and security checks.
  • Improve deployment repeatability, release safety, and software quality.
  • Monitor service health, troubleshoot production issues, and conduct root-cause analysis.
  • Improve application and platform performance, availability, and operational support.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, Data Scientists, Security teams, and engineers in an Agile delivery environment.
  • Participate in technical design discussions and help assess implementation options and dependencies.
  • Communicate technical decisions and implementation plans clearly to cross-functional partners.
