About The Position

This position is responsible for collecting semen and inseminating hens in chicken houses. Requirements

  • Must have at least 12 months of consecutive work history with one employer and no additional job gaps in employment greater than 6 months in the past 36 months. If applicant has been laid off or providing child or elder care, the employment gap will be increased to 18 months. Previous work history will not apply to applicants who have been full time students consecutively for the last 36 months.
  • Rehire criteria is a minimum waiting period of 180 days.
  • Rehire Rule of no more than 3 times worked at Cobb/Tyson Foods.
  • Applicants must reside in the United States to be considered for an interview.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous agricultural or production experience will be considered preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Insemination of hens. This is a process where 1 team member inverts the hens’ oviducts and another team member places semen into the oviduct. Management and leads will inspect this process to insure correct placement of semen and insure correct hen handling methods are being used. Team members are required to rotate between the inverting job and semen placement job. Hens will be inspected for evidence of production during this process. (75%)
  • Collect semen free of containments from males. Semen collection duties will be assisted by management and leads based on team members ability to collect containment free semen without causing injury to the male. Visually inspecting semen and recording the quality scores . (5%)
  • Weighing of males and recording of weights and adjusting males’ feed. (5%)
  • Assisting management, management support and leads in the evulation of semen using microscope/densimeter and other equipment to determine semen quality. Males not having acceptable semen quality will be replaced. (5%)
  • Duties may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice, such as: washing/disinfecting vehicles; set up and cleaning of AI equipment; sanitizing AI breakroom; trimming beaks/vents; properly euthanizing selected or weak/ill birds in accordance with company policy (10%)
  • The jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwear are provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.
