About the position
This job is for a software engineer with experience in generative AI who is interested in computer science education. The role involves working at Code.org, a nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding access to computer science in K-12 schools and increasing participation by underrepresented groups. The engineer will be responsible for owning projects, building features, and collaborating with product managers to develop user experiences. The ideal candidate should have a passion for the mission of growing access to computer science education and experience in building consumer-grade web applications using various languages and frameworks.
Responsibilities
Requirements
- Passion for growing access to computer science education
- Experience with building consumer-grade web applications using JavaScript, React, Ruby on Rails, and SQL
- Experience supporting a production high-scale web-based software product or service using AWS
- Experience working independently on software projects and handling ambiguity
- Experience with AI language models and prompt engineering frameworks
- Knowledge of mitigating bias and improving safety of language models for educational purposes
- Ability to apply AI models creatively and effectively using commercial and open source solutions
- Familiarity with instruction tuning and agent frameworks
- Proficiency in ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow
- U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Willingness to travel for team events
- Strong software engineering experience
