About The Position

The Enterprise AI Pod is a forward-deployed, field-first unit within Instacart's Enterprise Solutions team, focused on bringing the Instacart Intelligence Platform to market with B2B retail and CPG partners. As an AI Field Consultant, you will provide deep vertical expertise in grocery retail and CPG to build credibility within partner organizations, from analysts to executives. Your role will involve translating partner needs into AI use cases that R&D can build and partners will adopt. This is a senior, cross-functional role within a small pod that operates at the intersection of discovery, co-creation, and change management, defining the playbook as we go.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of layered experience including vertical industry expertise in grocery retail or CPG, B2B consulting experience translating domain knowledge into business solutions, and experience at a technology or AI company.
  • Deep domain fluency in at least one grocery vertical (merchandising, supply chain, store ops, ecommerce, trade marketing, or CPG).
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct consultative discovery with senior enterprise stakeholders and translate findings into clear, structured requirements.
  • Experience leading organizational change management, including training, workflow redesign, and embedding new operating cadences.
  • Exceptional communication and executive presence, comfortable presenting to C-suite and operational audiences.
  • Proficiency in BI and analytics tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker, Power BI) and workshop facilitation tools (e.g., Miro, Lucidspark).
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Operations, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Willingness to travel ~50% within North America.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with AI and ML concepts, including LLMs and agentic systems, to connect platform capabilities with partner needs.
  • Exposure to agentic AI systems, RAG pipelines, or LLM-based product development.
  • Experience working within common partner systems such as Snowflake, ERP platforms (SAP, Oracle), TPM/TPO tools, and POS systems.
  • Track record of contributing to product and engineering roadmap conversations through voice-of-customer feedback.
  • Strength in using data and storytelling to influence decisions and secure investment.
  • Prior work in a forward-deployed, embedded, or startup environment.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the domain credibility for the pod, leveraging deep knowledge of grocery retail and CPG (merchandising, supply chain, store ops, trade, e-commerce) to build trust at all levels of a partner organization.
  • Identify opportunities where agentic AI can drive business impact by embedding with partner teams, focusing on practical applications that change day-to-day operations.
  • Translate identified business problems into AI-solvable use cases for the pod and R&D.
  • Lead discovery and requirements gathering through structured workshops at partner sites, prioritizing the use case map, and translating field learnings into clear inputs for the pod and R&D.
  • Act as the bridge between partner needs and the development process.
  • Conduct hands-on demos and platform walkthroughs tailored to partner workflows, making abstract AI capabilities concrete and compelling.
  • Drive adoption through change management, including new operating cadences, workflow redesigns, and user training, with success measured by behavioral change.
  • Travel regularly to partner locations, potentially up to 50% of the time, as this is a field-first role.
