About The Position

Humana’s Enterprise AI organization advances AI innovation across its Insurance, CenterWell, Growth, and Corporate business segments. The AI Engineer will contribute to Generative AI initiatives, using state-of-the-art large language models to build applications and safe AI solutions intended to improve healthcare experiences and outcomes. The role is part of a growing team of data scientists, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders developing impactful AI systems. The position involves designing and developing AI solutions, including autonomous agents and production-ready machine learning applications. The engineer collaborates with business, data science, engineering, product, MLOps, and DevOps teams to integrate AI into enterprise workflows, deliver data science initiatives, and maintain reliable, scalable, and compliant systems. Responsible AI practices, including transparency, safety, and real-world impact, are emphasized.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years of applicable experience, or a master’s degree and at least 1 year of experience; experience preferably includes developing production-ready AI solutions.
Experience with agentic AI system design.
Experience collaborating with MLOps and DevOps teams.
Proficiency in SQL, Python, PySpark, and data analysis or data mining tools.
Experience with machine learning frameworks such as Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
Experience with high-performance, large-scale machine learning systems.
Experience with language modeling using transformers.
Experience with large-scale ETL.

Responsibilities

Design and develop AI solutions using Python, machine learning, and generative models such as large language models.
Ensure responsible AI development aligned with Humana’s ethical standards, with a focus on transparency, safety, and real-world impact.
Build autonomous AI agents using frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, AutoGen, and CrewAI to support reasoning and decision-making in healthcare.
Embed AI into Humana’s systems and workflows.
Partner with business teams to understand challenges, co-create solutions, and communicate AI capabilities, especially generative AI.
Design AI solutions for scalability, reliability, and compliance.
Work with engineering and product teams to implement best practices for deploying and maintaining AI models in production.
Execute data science initiatives, including their design, development, and implementation.
Collaborate with data scientists, data engineers, software engineers, and stakeholders to deliver high-impact AI use-case solutions.
Develop and maintain advanced AI and machine learning models and algorithms.
Design and implement monitoring capabilities to maintain model performance and reliability.
Create reports, projections, models, and presentations for business stakeholders.
Use AI coding assistants.
