About The Position
Trimble is seeking an AI Developer Intern to gain hands-on experience engineering intelligent agentic workflows, prototyping applied AI solutions, and automating business operations. The intern will work with enterprise-scale AI systems, collaborate with senior engineering leads, and experiment in safe sandboxes to develop software that improves business efficiency. The position is hybrid in Dayton, Ohio, with no travel required.
Requirements
- Actively pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Data Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent demonstrable coding proficiency.
- Practical programming foundation in Python, TypeScript, C++, or similar, with sound software design fundamentals.
- Hands-on technical experience building or engineering AI solutions, integrating LLM APIs, or scripting custom tools beyond standard end-user prompt applications.
- Collaborative mindset, strong problem-solving initiative, and clear verbal and written communication abilities.
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or Azure.
- Exposure to AI development frameworks such as LangChain or LlamaIndex, or to vector databases.
- Hands-on experience developing, integrating, or consuming RESTful APIs.
Responsibilities
- Design, code, and evaluate intelligent prototypes, agentic workflows, and automated pipelines for enterprise business challenges.
- Partner with cross-functional business application teams to translate complex workflow requirements into functional AI-driven automations.
- Conduct rapid prototyping and sandbox testing to evaluate model performance, test technical hypotheses, and refine tools.
- Collaborate with senior engineering mentors on model integration, APIs, and modern AI engineering practices.
