AI Consultant

Sigma Information GroupAustin, TX

About The Position

Sigma Information Group is expanding its AI advisory practice and seeks an AI Consultant to blend strategic advisory with hands-on technical delivery. This role involves working directly with clients to assess AI readiness, establish governance frameworks, design and execute pilot programs, and implement and operationalize AI tools and workflows within real business environments. The position requires a dynamic individual capable of both advising client leadership on AI direction and actively configuring platforms, building assistants and agentic workflows, and driving measurable adoption. The ideal candidate will be comfortable and find value in both strategic and technical modes of work. You will report to the Head of AI Consulting and collaborate closely with Sigma’s CISO on governance, risk, and data protection.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in IT consulting, technical implementation, software/application development, or solution engineering.
  • Hands-on experience configuring and deploying AI platforms, assistants, agents, or workflow-based solutions.
  • Experience designing, testing, and optimizing prompts, AI workflows, and knowledge-grounded experiences.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into practical technical configurations and operational workflows.
  • Strong understanding of AI governance, data handling, and responsible use considerations.
  • Strong communication skills — comfortable presenting to executives, technical teams, and end users alike.
  • Ability to manage multiple client engagements and workstreams concurrently in a consulting environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with agentic AI design, including multi-step task coordination, tool use, and human-in-the-loop patterns.
  • Familiarity with AI risk, privacy, security, and regulatory considerations (e.g., NIST AI RMF, EU AI Act, CMMC, SOC 2).
  • Background advising clients on AI adoption, digital transformation, or technology strategy.
  • Experience supporting AI-related business development, proposal writing, or client scoping.
  • Relevant certifications in AI, security, cloud, or data platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Lead AI discovery sessions with client leadership, business teams, and technical stakeholders.
  • Assess organizational readiness across people, process, data, technology, and risk.
  • Identify, evaluate, and prioritize AI use cases based on business value, feasibility, and risk profile.
  • Develop phased AI strategies, roadmaps, and implementation plans aligned to client objectives.
  • Advise clients on AI operating models, governance structures, resourcing, and adoption priorities.
  • Develop AI acceptable use standards, governance guardrails, and approval frameworks.
  • Define approved and prohibited use cases, data handling expectations, and human review requirements.
  • Help clients classify data and determine what can and cannot be used with approved AI platforms.
  • Engage Sigma’s CISO on AI risk, privacy, regulatory, and compliance considerations as they surface in client work.
  • Support policy and standards updates as client AI capabilities mature over time.
  • Deliver AI awareness and literacy training for leaders, staff, and pilot participants.
  • Provide role-based guidance on practical use cases, prompt hygiene, output validation, and safe use.
  • Help clients build internal AI champions, governance ownership, and durable adoption momentum.
  • Design and run AI pilot programs for selected teams, departments, or business functions.
  • Define pilot objectives, success criteria, controls, timelines, and participation expectations.
  • Coordinate rollout of approved tools, workflows, and supporting processes.
  • Facilitate feedback collection, lessons learned, and performance reviews.
  • Recommend expansion, redesign, or retirement based on business and risk outcomes.
  • Configure, deploy, and support AI platforms and agentic assistants in client environments.
  • Build and maintain custom AI skills, reusable prompt libraries, and knowledge-grounded experiences.
  • Design, test, and refine agentic workflows that coordinate tasks, tool use, and human review checkpoints.
  • Connect AI capabilities to client business processes, internal knowledge sources, and operational workflows.
  • Support integrations, permissions alignment, workspace configuration, and deployment readiness.
  • Troubleshoot implementation issues, validate outputs, and iterate based on real-world usage feedback.
  • Define and track metrics for adoption, efficiency, output quality, and business impact.
  • Review outcomes and refine governance, training, workflows, and use cases on a continuous basis.
  • Identify opportunities for broader rollout, deeper automation, and expanded use of agentic AI.
  • Help clients graduate from structured experimentation to durable, governed operational use.
  • Serve as the primary client-facing advisor and delivery lead for AI engagements.
  • Manage scope, priorities, timelines, stakeholder communication, and expectations.
  • Produce executive-ready deliverables: assessments, roadmaps, policies, implementation plans, and status updates.
  • Support business development, solution design, and proposal development for AI advisory opportunities.
