AI Compiler and Kernel Intern – Summer 2027

NVIDIA•Austin, TX
•$20 - $94

About The Position

NVIDIA is seeking an AI Compiler & Kernel Intern to apply AI agents, machine learning, and performance engineering to compilers, GPU kernels, and developer tools. The intern will work with compiler, kernel, and AI engineers on a scoped project involving code, compiler and kernel feedback, performance experiments, and optimization. Depending on their background and interests, the work may focus on agentic workflows, learned models, compiler optimization, GPU kernel development, performance analysis, or AI-enabled developer tools. Candidates may come from either a compiler or kernel background; experience in every area is not expected. The internship involves building AI-agent workflows and tools, exploring data-driven approaches to compiler optimization and GPU kernel generation and tuning, prototyping improvements to engineering workflows and infrastructure, and evaluating ideas on representative workloads. The intern will measure relevant outcomes and document designs, experiments, results, limitations, and next steps. The expected hourly rate is 20 USD–94 USD, based on position, location, year in school, degree, and experience. Intern benefits are available. Applications will be accepted at least until November 6, 2026. This posting is for an existing vacancy.
