AI & Automation Lead - Product Development

GE Aerospace•Evendale, OH

About The Position

Join GE Aerospace in a high-impact role building automation and AI solutions to transform engineering work. The role operates at the intersection of software development, digital engineering, and advanced integration, delivering scalable capabilities across platforms such as Teamcenter, NX, Cameo, and cloud environments. The position partners with engineering and product development teams to redefine workflows, identify and prioritize AI and automation opportunities, and create capability roadmaps. It embeds with engineering teams to develop and validate solutions, supports adoption through change management and training, and helps establish the support infrastructure needed to sustain capabilities. The role integrates AI and automation into engineering toolchains and the broader digital thread; evaluates AI technologies and build-versus-buy-versus-leverage options; and guides the design, development, and deployment of tools using Agile, SDLC, and CI/CD practices. It may include hands-on development and coordination with Information Assurance and Digital Technology teams for deployment in classified environments. The role establishes metrics for solution performance and business impact and drives continuous improvement. A bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a similar field and at least three years of relevant technical experience are required. The individual must obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance, for which U.S. citizenship is a prerequisite. The role also requires eligibility to access U.S. export-controlled information as a U.S. Person. Relocation assistance is provided.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a similar field from an accredited university or college.
  • At least 3 years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, digital technologies, or another technical field.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance; U.S. citizenship is a prerequisite for clearance.
  • Experience with digital transformation and/or AI-native process redefinition, preferably focused on product development or manufacturing.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of AI/ML and generative AI tools and frameworks, such as LLMs, agents, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
  • Knowledge of data integration concepts, SQL/NoSQL databases, APIs, and web services.
  • Proficiency in scripting and programming, such as Python, Java, C++, or SQL.
  • Familiarity with modern development practices including Git, CI/CD, automated testing, Docker/Kubernetes, and AWS or other cloud environments.
  • Background with engineering tools, data structures, and APIs, including PLM (Teamcenter), CAD (NX), systems engineering (Cameo), and analysis (Ansys).
  • Understanding of digital engineering processes, particularly CAD workflows and engineering analysis, and experience leading digital transformation in engineering or manufacturing.
  • Ability to map business processes, capture requirements, and scope technical solutions.
  • Effective communication with technical and non-technical audiences, collaboration in cross-functional teams, and ability to influence stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently, think analytically, and persist through complex technical problems.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with engineering and product development teams to map current workflows, identify bottlenecks, and define AI-native future-state processes.
  • Lead and support process redefinition, rethinking engineering work rather than simply automating existing steps.
  • Identify and prioritize automation and AI opportunities and build business cases based on measurable impact, including productivity, cycle time, and quality.
  • Define multigenerational capability roadmaps that balance near-term results with a long-term digital engineering vision.
  • Embed with engineering teams to co-develop and validate solutions that fit engineers’ workflows.
  • Work with enterprise and Edison Works teams to establish support infrastructure for new capabilities.
  • Drive change management and adoption through training, documentation, and ongoing support for engineering users.
  • Balance delivery speed, quality, and sustainability of tools to support business outcomes.
  • Integrate AI and automation capabilities into engineering toolchains and the broader digital thread.
  • Evaluate and apply AI technologies to engineering use cases, guiding build-versus-buy-versus-leverage decisions.
  • Guide the design, development, and deployment of automation and AI tools using Agile, SDLC, and CI/CD practices, contributing hands-on development where needed.
  • Work with Information Assurance and Digital Technology teams to deploy and sustain tools in classified environments.
  • Establish metrics to track solution performance and business impact, and drive continuous improvement.
