About The Position

Pattern is hiring an AI Automation Engineer Intern for a full-time, approximately 12-week Summer 2027 internship. The role is based at Pattern’s headquarters in Lehi, Utah, and follows a hybrid schedule. The intern will work on challenging problems for Pattern’s users and the international ecommerce space, exploring technology-based solutions. The position is open to undergraduate and graduate students and provides opportunities to learn and grow under the mentorship of Pattern’s AI team. A high-performing intern may be considered for a full-time position after the internship or a part-time extension while returning to school.

Pattern accelerates global brands on ecommerce marketplaces using proprietary technology, data, machine learning, and AI. The intern will work directly and cross-functionally with AI team members, including AI engineers, senior AI product managers, and the Director of Product - AI Research & Development, as well as other technology teams.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field.
• Foundational knowledge of machine learning concepts and algorithms.
• Proficiency in a programming language commonly used in AI, such as Python or Java.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Eagerness to learn and contribute in a collaborative environment.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with at least one machine learning framework, such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.

Responsibilities

• Assist with data preprocessing, cleaning, and analysis to prepare high-quality datasets for model training.
• Support the development and optimization of machine learning models, including fine-tuning hyperparameters and evaluating performance.
• Participate in deploying AI solutions and collaborate with senior engineers to integrate models into production systems.
• Document AI experiments, code, and project workflows to support clear and reproducible processes.
• Research emerging AI technologies and methodologies to contribute to the team’s innovation efforts.
• Take ownership of assigned projects and follow them through to completion.
• Participate actively in group collaborations and complete assignments in a timely manner.
