About The Position

AtkinsRéalis is seeking an AI and Data Science Specialist to join its team in Tallahassee, Florida. The position is embedded full-time, five days a week, at the FDOT client office. The specialist collaborates with industry experts and multidisciplinary project teams to address complex business challenges using data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. The role covers data analysis, production AI/ML solution development, generative AI applications, reporting tools, and support for data and AI strategy. Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related quantitative field.
At least 5 years of experience in data science, analytics, AI, or machine learning; alternatively, 4 or more years with a master's degree, or 3 or more years of direct AI/ML application development experience.
Experience designing, building, and deploying AI/ML solutions in production environments.
Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) and generative AI technologies.
Strong Python programming skills.
Experience building AI Copilots, chatbots, RAG systems, AI agents, NLP solutions, computer vision applications, or predictive analytics tools.
Experience with databases, SQL, Power BI and/or Tableau, and cloud platforms including Azure or AWS.
Strong technical writing, communication, presentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences and work effectively in a collaborative, client-focused environment.
Demonstrated commitment to innovation, quality, teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with industry experts to solve complex business challenges using data science, machine learning, and AI.
Collect, organize, and analyze structured and unstructured data to identify trends and actionable insights.
Design, develop, optimize, and deploy machine learning models and predictive analytics solutions.
Develop AI applications, including generative AI solutions leveraging LLMs such as GPT, Claude, and Gemini.
Build AI-powered tools, including AI Copilots, chatbots, RAG systems, AI agents, NLP applications, computer vision solutions, and predictive analytics tools.
Develop dashboards and reporting tools using Power BI or similar technologies.
Support data and AI strategy development while working within multidisciplinary project teams.
Mentor junior team members and communicate technical findings to clients, stakeholders, and leadership.
Utilize cloud technologies including Azure and/or AWS to support AI and analytics solutions.
Participate in project meetings, design reviews, and client engagements while supporting successful project delivery.
Perform other duties as assigned.
