About The Position

Midwest Co-op is currently accepting resumes for the position of Agronomy Operations Manager. Under the direction of the Agronomy Division Manager, the Agronomy Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of location operations, including financial performance, workforce management, safety compliance, and asset utilization. This role drives operational efficiency through effective planning, scheduling, logistics coordination, inventory management, and product handling. The Agronomy Operations Manager ensures resources are optimized to meet customer and business needs while supporting continuous improvement initiatives and fostering strong relationships with customers, employees, and the local community.

Requirements

2-4 years of leadership and/or management experience, preferably in an agricultural or operations environment.
Knowledge of agronomy operations, logistics, inventory management, and equipment operation.
Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and industry-related software.
Valid Class G driver's license.

Nice To Haves

Post-secondary education in Agriculture, Business, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
Experience training employees and operating site equipment considered an asset.
Pesticide Vendor Certification considered an asset.

Responsibilities

Hires, supervises, leads and develops agronomy operations staff to be technically competent, industry knowledgeable, and customer focused.
Encourages employees to learn new skills, expand abilities, and seek greater responsibilities.
Provides support to the management team providing local information, market intelligence and competitor information.
Support location performance through effective planning, cost control, and resource management.
Assist with operating budgets, staffing plans, and operational expenses.
Monitor operational results and implement process improvements to increase efficiency.
Ensure accurate inventory reporting and maintain strong inventory controls.
Support the execution of location goals through effective day-to-day operations.
Support the delivery of products and services to meet customer expectations.
Coordinate with sales and agronomy teams to ensure timely and efficient service delivery.
Respond to customer concerns related to orders, deliveries, and service issues.
Maintain knowledge of company products, services, and operational processes.
Build positive customer relationships through reliable service and communication.
Lead, coach, and support operational and customer service employees.
Assist with recruiting, onboarding, training, and employee development.
Set clear expectations and provide ongoing performance feedback.
Promote a positive, safety-focused workplace culture.
Manage employee schedules and support effective teamwork across departments.
Oversee the maintenance, operation, and availability of vehicles, equipment, and facilities.
Coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs to minimize downtime and maximize asset utilization.
Operate site equipment as required, including loaders, soil samplers, fertilizer plants, and UAN facilities.
Train and mentor employees on the safe and effective operation of site equipment, facilities, and related processes.
Manage fleet scheduling to support operational efficiency and customer needs.
Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and transportation regulations.
Maintain accurate records related to driver compliance, equipment maintenance, and operational activities.
Coordinate facility maintenance and improvement projects.
Maintain inventory levels to support customer demand and operational requirements.
Oversee receiving, shipping, inventory transfers, and product movement.
Ensure inventory is stored, handled, and tracked accurately.
Coordinate delivery schedules and logistics activities.
Ensure fueling facilities and related equipment meet regulatory requirements.
Identify opportunities to improve inventory accuracy and logistics efficiency.
Follow all health and safety requirements under the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), including using required protective equipment, following safety procedures, and reporting any potential hazards.
Follow all company personnel policies, including expectations related to training, performance, and conduct.
Participate in required MCS training such as Ministry of Labour courses, Health & Safety Standards, Policies, and AODA accessibility training.
Work cooperatively with approved contractors and follow all related safety procedures when contractors are on site.
Maintain any required licenses, certifications, or regulatory requirements needed for your role.
Perform other assigned duties as assigned.
