About The Position

This is a 12-16 week internship program focused on gaining hands-on experience in agriculture sales and operations. The program, called PLOT (Professional Leaders of Tomorrow), allows interns to work on a key project, develop new skills, apply learned knowledge, and present findings to leadership. Interns will also connect with other interns and attend learning sessions. Successful completion can earn a scholarship of $1,000 to $3,000. Wilbur-Ellis is a 100-year-old, family-owned leader in the agriculture industry, offering skill development, competitive compensation, and a tradition of internal promotion.

Requirements

  • College student majoring in Agriculture, Agronomy, Plant Science, Ag Business, or a related field is preferred.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with agricultural operations or agricultural sales is preferred.
  • Comply with company safety standards including a clean driving record.
  • Willingness and desire to work overtime hours and occasional Saturdays.
  • Ability to safely operate company machinery within state laws and company policies and guidelines.
  • Ability to repetitively bend, kneel, and walk long distances while working in a non-climate-controlled environment and outside in inclement weather.

Responsibilities

  • Learn about Wilbur-Ellis products, services, industries, and operations.
  • Understand different aspects of the sales cycle and agricultural sales techniques.
  • Support Sales Representatives, field scouts, operations, and distribution staff.
  • Gain experience in field scouting, trap checking, and using agricultural mapping technology.
  • Acquire marketing knowledge by placing field signs and participating in local field days.
  • Conform to the normal working hours of the Wilbur-Ellis location.
  • Present a final project overview of the internship to senior leadership.
