Agricultural/Commercial Loan Officer
About The Position
North Star Community Credit Union is seeking an experienced Ag/Commercial lender to originate, manage, and supervise their commercial loan portfolio while shaping agricultural lending strategy in the Grafton and Minot region. This role offers portfolio ownership, the opportunity to grow relationships, and make a meaningful impact in the community. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of commercial or agricultural lending experience, expertise in North Dakota agricultural markets, and proven success with large-scale producers and agribusiness operations. Strong analytical skills, a relationship-focused approach, and the ability to structure tailored lending solutions are essential.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of commercial or agricultural lending experience
- Expertise in North Dakota agricultural markets
- Proven success with large-scale crop and livestock producers, agribusiness operations, or complex farm financing structures
- Experience managing significant agricultural loan portfolios in rural financial institutions
- Strong analytical skills and ability to structure creative, tailored lending solutions
- Relationship-focused, results-driven, autonomous, and ready to lead
- Experience in analyzing business financial statements and assessing the viability of businesses
- Excellent communication and PR skills
- Ability to use related software required

Responsibilities
- Originate, manage, and supervise loans, maintaining and improving asset quality while developing new and existing business relationships.
- Grow the portfolio by cultivating high-value agricultural and commercial clients in the Minot area.
- Review business financials, assess risk, and structure loans that maximize client success and portfolio performance.
- Monitor assets, ensure regulatory compliance, and maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation.
- Provide strategic guidance to members and represent North Star in industry and local events to strengthen relationships and lending opportunities.
