About The Position

The mission of the Agility Field Representative is to serve as the "face, eyes and ears" of the AKC, acting as the ultimate advisor and mentor for judges, show chairs, and exhibitors. This role is dedicated to ensuring constituents receive the highest quality customer experience, with a focus on appreciating the contributions of volunteers. The position supports the AKC Agility program by ensuring trials embody the sport's spirit, assisting with regulation adherence, and fostering positive relationships through problem-solving and listening skills.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of AKC rules and programs, or background in the sport of Agility.
  • Must have been an AKC Agility judge.
  • Expertise in Agility course design is required.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of agility trials.
  • Proven customer service knowledge and background.
  • Must have a background in analyzing potential issues that may cause problems to a project and show problem resolution skills.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Requires maximum work schedule flexibility with overnight travel.
  • Weekend travel required.
  • Trial supervisions may require 12-hour work days.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision and autonomy.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.

  • The ideal candidate has been a trial chair, trial secretary, all ring help positions, and an active exhibitor.

Responsibilities

  • Represents the AKC Agility program at Agility Trials by supervising clubs and judges.
  • Ensures trials are safe and adhere to AKC regulations.
  • Directly supervises approximately 45 judges, including course reviews, acting as a resource, and implementing individual training.
  • Supervises and trains provisional judges at their assignments.
  • Provides ongoing training and development for fully approved judges at trials.
  • Supervises clubs to ensure they have the necessary tools for success, trains club members, and confirms equipment safety and compliance.
  • Assists at the AKC Agility Nationals, AKC Agility Invitational, and Agility Premier Cup as assigned.
  • Chairs specific areas at events (e.g., awards, judges, site, ring management).
  • Conducts ongoing review and makes recommendations for changes in agility regulations.
  • Responsible for the implementation of regulation updates.
  • Assists Sr. Agility Field Rep with preparing materials for seminars.
  • Teaches at seminars as assigned.

Benefits

  • Salary range: $65,000-68,500 per year
