About The Position

Responsible for the overall direction of aggregate production for the North Georgia District, encompassing Tyrone, Red Oak, Paulding, Six Mile, and Ball Ground Quarries, managing approximately 3.3 Million Tons. Reporting to the General Manager of the North Georgia District, the Area Production Manager will lead and grow all aspects of aggregate production in the district. This includes managing safety, production, and other support functions, with a primary focus on ensuring effective execution of production performance and growth strategy. Key competencies include business acumen, customer focus, developing direct reports, drive for results, and strategically building effective teams. The ideal candidate will be able to lead and motivate within a safe team environment.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree (B.S. or B.E.) in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or other related discipline strongly preferred and/or equivalent combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities
Ten (10) or more years’ experience in aggregates, operations preferred
Five (5) years’ supervisory or management experience in an aggregate or similar industrial environment

Responsibilities

Cultivates a positive safety culture in assigned operations by championing Guardian Angel and Wing Man principles and philosophy, building individual accountability and recognition into the safety approach.
Ensures daily coordination between production, delivery, distribution, and quality control.
Directs production activities to ensure strict adherence to cost and quality standards, taking immediate corrective action when deficiencies are noted, and achieving production targets as directed by VP/GM.
Provides leadership for maximum production, working closely with the Sales Manager to exceed customer expectations, ensure product quality, and drive maximum profitability.
Provides direction to Plant Managers to ensure efficiency, quality, service, and cost-effective management of resources.
Builds effective teams and develops direct reports for future opportunities.
Ensures that all personnel under their supervision comply with Federal, State, and local regulations.
Ensures company safety rules and regulations are met through periodic inspections of plant machinery, equipment, personal activities, and working conditions.
Drives operational and safety performance through continuous improvement initiatives that meet or exceed company and regional goals.
Develops and nurtures empowerment in all phases of the operation.
Responsible for overseeing month-end inventories.
Directs the selection, training, and development of production personnel, appraises performance of subordinates, and takes/recommends appropriate personnel actions as necessary.
Recommends management development and necessary training programs for all direct reports.
Purchases or directs the purchase of supplies and equipment in accordance with company policy, recommending or changing vendors to reduce maintenance costs.
Implements and reviews ongoing contracts, purchase orders, appropriation, and expenditure requests.
Coordinates with VP/GM needed staffing to operate the plants properly and safely, and coordinates these needs with the Human Resources Department with attention to labor law compliance.
Assists with profit plans, CERs, market analyses, and special reports for the approval of the VP/GM.
Maintains operational security.
Develops an environment of empowerment and teamwork.
Performs other duties as required.
