The YMCA of Western North Carolina is a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening local communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Founded in 1889, it engages a diverse population to nurture the potential of children and teens, improve community health, and provide opportunities for civic engagement. The organization operates through seven YMCAs, numerous program sites, and YMCA Camp Watia. As the largest provider of licensed school-age childcare in the state, the YMCA offers a supportive environment for over 1,000 children daily. The organization values caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility, and is committed to addressing social constraints that affect individuals from all walks of life. Staff are recruited for their passion in community service and alignment with core values. The Program Coordinator role is responsible for leading the Out-of-School Time (OST) program at an assigned facility, which may vary. The essential functions, qualifications, and expectations remain consistent across assignments. The Coordinator must possess the necessary competencies, skills, and leadership abilities to fulfill the YMCA's mission, goals, and vision under the guidance of the District Program Director. Work hours vary seasonally, with a mandatory 40-hour workweek during summer camp and school's out weeks, and a minimum of 32 hours during after-school programming.
