Afterschool Assistant Site Coordinator (SAM Elementary)
About The Position
Amazing Athletes is seeking a dependable Assistant Site Coordinator for their afterschool program at SAM Elementary. This role will serve as the on-site point person at SAM Elementary, working closely with the Site Coordinator to keep the program organized, ensure child accountability, and facilitate a smooth afternoon operation. The program operates at two SAM School locations: SAM Elementary and SAM Nursery. The Assistant Site Coordinator will primarily be responsible for the SAM Elementary site on Mondays and Wednesdays, leading a Wonder Lab class, supporting an enrichment class, and managing dismissal. Occasional coverage at the SAM Nursery location on Tuesdays and Thursdays may be required.
Requirements
- Experience working with children in an afterschool program, school, camp, childcare, or similar setting.
- Strong attention to attendance, supervision, and dismissal procedures.
- Ability to lead activities and support another instructor’s class.
- Reliable availability on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:15–5:15 PM.
- Organized, attentive, and comfortable taking responsibility for student transitions and dismissal.
- Ability to make a small class engaging.
- Clear communication with families, instructors, and the Site Coordinator.
- Reliable and able to respond calmly when plans change.
Nice To Haves
- Experience coordinating a program, managing student transitions, or serving as a classroom lead.
- Availability for occasional Tuesday or Thursday coverage at SAM Nursery.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the transition from the school day into afterschool at SAM Elementary.
- Confirm each child’s arrival and attendance, and promptly follow up on any discrepancy.
- Lead Wonder Lab activities for a small group of students.
- Support the instructor and students during the enrichment class that follows.
- Manage dismissal and confirm each child is released according to program procedures.
- Communicate with the Site Coordinator about attendance, staffing, parent questions, and any issues that arise.
- Serve as the on-site point person at SAM Elementary on scheduled program days.
