About The Position

Saint Peter School on Capitol Hill is seeking an Aftercare Teacher to supervise students during aftercare hours. This role involves planning and executing educational activities, monitoring student behavior and well-being, and ensuring a safe and orderly environment for students completing homework.

Requirements

• Knowledge of teaching best practices partnered with a willingness to follow the school’s policies and procedures
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Well-organized, creative, and energetic
• Strong moral values and discipline
• Knowledge of CPR, First Aid and use of the AED

Responsibilities

• Taking daily attendance
• Planning and executing educational in-class and outdoor activities and events
• Supervising students during recreational activities
• Observing and understanding student behaviors
• Monitoring students for allergic reactions
• Reporting injuries or behavioral issues to director immediately
• Ensuring constant communication with reception desk teacher so students can be dismissed promptly
• Providing students with orderly and quiet environments to complete homework
• Encouraging students to be respectful of the school and property by leaving classroom, hallways, and activity area neat and orderly
