About The Position

Gwekwaadziwin Miikan program provides a client-centered model of mental health and addiction treatment for youth and young adults. The Seven Grandfather’s program meets participants on the spectrum of care, from withdrawal management, treatment, residential aftercare, outpatient aftercare and community reintegration. The Seven Grandfathers program is designed for adults age 30+ and consists of three phases: Land Based Treatment, Live-in Aftercare, and Community Aftercare. This is a fulltime position responsible for monitoring participant wellness; monitoring the facility; cleaning the facility; and other duties as required. This position rotates between 7am – 3pm and 3pm-11pm, 5 days a week.

Requirements

  • Minimum requirement is a diploma in social service work, or related field with mental health and addictions training; or combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and projects
  • Valid Ontario class ‘G’ driver’s license in good standing
  • Ability to work flexible hours

  • Preference given to an Individual of Anishinaabe ancestry with Knowledge and understanding of Anishinabek history, clan systems, protocols, etiquette, culture, traditions, and ceremonies
  • Mature individual who can work independently with preference given to individuals living a traditional lifestyle and being on a life-long journey in traditional knowledge

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for implementing direction in the Live-in Aftercare Program.
  • Responsible for monitoring the facility; facility upkeep and cleaning.
  • Responsible for inputting case notes to the EMR Database.
  • Responsible for reporting pertinent clinical information to the Live-in Aftercare Counsellor, Clinical Director and pertinent facility information to the Director of Operations.
  • Responsible for monitoring participant wellness and whereabouts.
  • Continue to develop and implement model of care.
  • Assist in development of client centered wholistic treatment plans.
  • Assist program participants in continuing their recovery via life skills, education, therapeutic interventions.
  • Other duties as required.
