The Syracuse City School District is seeking certified teachers, highly qualified teaching assistants, or degreed individuals to deliver a robotics club at a participating middle-level after-school program. This role involves working directly with students, both in-person and virtually, to teach robotics. For in-person instruction, candidates will model programming and building VEX robots, including power sources, sensors, motors, and structural components. For virtual instruction, candidates will use district-selected virtual robotics programs to guide students in creating virtual robotic activities. The position requires candidates to supervise students at robotics competitions, which may include paid hours outside of regular program time and/or weekends for training and competitions. Responsibilities include providing instruction, creating lesson plans, facilitating group activities, offering individual attention, and fostering positive relationships with students. The program runs for approximately 90-107 days, generally Monday through Friday, with extensions offered for up to 15 hours per week based on staffing needs. The program is led by a designated SCSD Program Lead and supervised by a SCSD Building Administrator.
