The Syracuse City School District is seeking certified teachers, highly qualified teaching assistants, or degreed individuals to work directly with students in its Before/After-School Programs. These programs are dynamic extensions of learning, aligned with the District's mission to prepare and inspire students. The Building Men program specifically aims to foster a sense of community and positive influence among young men, encouraging excellent attendance, high school and college/career education, community participation, and societal impact. The role involves facilitating group activities, developing and delivering lesson plans (in-person and/or virtual), providing individual attention, and building strong relationships with students. The program runs for approximately 90-107 days, generally Monday through Friday, with class sizes of up to fifteen students in person. Participants will receive training and engage in activities like Chalk Talks, Progress Reports, Community Service Projects, and a Rite of Passage Ceremony. The program is supervised by a SCSD Building Administrator and led by a designated SCSD Program Lead. Joe Horan, Coordinator of Building Men services, will provide guided assistance.
