About The Position

Lead, inspire, and make a difference every afternoon! Join Boise Parks and Recreation as an After School Recreation Attendant Supervisor and help create a safe, fun, and enriching environment where youth can learn, grow, and thrive. In this leadership role, you'll oversee daily program operations, mentor staff, and ensure high-quality programming for children ages 5–17. As an After School Recreation Attendant Supervisor, you'll provide leadership and support to Recreation Attendants while helping deliver engaging activities such as homework help, sports, STEM, arts and crafts, games, and more. Your guidance will help create a positive experience for both participants and staff. Kid City is Boise Parks and Recreation's free after-school program serving students in 1st–6th grade at select Boise and West Ada School District elementary schools. Through a partnership with the Boise and West Ada School Districts, we provide safe, supportive spaces where youth enjoy homework help, recreation, STEM activities, arts and crafts, games, and healthy snacks. Requirements

  • Previous experience working with youth.
  • Possess or have the ability to obtain CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • Valid state-issued driver's license.
  • Ability to interact with the public and coworkers in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Work flexible hours (afternoons, evenings and weekends).
  • Display an attitude of cooperation and work harmoniously with all levels of City employees, the general public and other organizations.
  • Communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance.
  • Complete assignments in a timely fashion.
  • Understand and comply with all rules, policies and regulations.
  • Maintain prompt and regular attendance.
  • Perform all essential and marginal functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Individuals must be capable of operating vehicles safely and have an acceptable driving record.
  • Applicants must be able to pass: City of Boise background check processes which includes a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process Regulation

  • Drug Free Workplace: In accordance with the City of Boise Drug Free Workplace Regulation, this position is designated as safety sensitive and is subject to testing requirements including Post Offer Applicant Testing, Random Testing, Reasonable Suspicion, Post - Accident, etc.

  • Appointment to this position is contingent upon a negative pre-employment drug test.
  • This position is required to work directly with and oversee minors in the absence of their parent or guardian, or work directly with and oversee vulnerable adults in the absence of their caretaker or guardian.

Nice To Haves

  • One year experience working with youth and be outgoing, enthusiastic, and demonstrate good verbal communication; current CPR/First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, encourages and engages youth/teen in a variety of indoor and outdoor group activities.
  • Actively participates in programs alongside the youth/teens.
  • Guides, supports, mentors and leads team through a daily schedule.
  • Ensures safety and wellbeing of all participants and staff.
  • Communicates program information, schedules and safety protocols with staff on-site, youth/teens and families.
  • Communicates with facility personnel and partner organizations on facility use and maintenance.
  • Opens and closes facility, arms and disarms alarm system, and ensures the facility is locked and secure.
  • Completes safety incident reports and facility inspections.
  • Makes sure equipment and supplies are in good working order.
  • Notifies supervisor when equipment needs repair or replacement.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
