About The Position

The After School Program Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing the City of Holland Parks & Recreation After School Program. This position coordinates daily activities, transportation, volunteers, and program operations while creating a safe, engaging, and positive environment for participants. The Coordinator will work closely with schools, families, volunteers, and Parks & Recreation staff to ensure successful program delivery.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with youth, parents, school staff, volunteers, and the public.
  • Ability to lead activities and maintain a positive, organized, and safe environment.
  • Ability to remain organized, manage schedules, and handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Ability to respond calmly and effectively during emergencies or unexpected situations.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in the best interest of participants and the City of Holland Parks & Recreation Department.
  • Ability to pass a background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Some college coursework in recreation, education, youth development, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience working with youth programs, recreation programs, schools, camps, or volunteer coordination preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate all daily schedules, activities, and program timing for the After School Program.
  • Develop engaging recreational, educational, and enrichment activities for participants.
  • Recruit, organize, and communicate with volunteers supporting the program.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with local schools, staff, and community partners.
  • Coordinate participant travel and transportation logistics as needed.
  • Prepare supplies & equipment for teams.
  • Create and maintain contingency plans and emergency response procedures for program operations.
  • Supervise participants and maintain a safe, organized, and positive program environment.
  • Communicate effectively with participants, parents, schools, volunteers, and Parks & Recreation staff.
  • Maintain attendance records, schedules, and other program documentation as needed.
  • Enforce program rules, policies, and safety procedures consistently and professionally.
  • Assist with program promotion and participant communication.
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
