About The Position

LIFT Enrichment is seeking enthusiastic Chef Teachers to lead fun, hands-on cooking workshops for students in Title I schools. The role serves elementary school students in Hawthorne USD, Inglewood USD, and Long Beach, California. No professional chef experience is required; training and a curriculum are provided. The position is seasonal and part-time, with work scheduled 2–3 days per week, Monday through Friday, from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. A typical day involves teaching two workshops and approximately five paid hours covering grocery shopping, preparation, teaching, and cleanup. The rate is $28 per hour. Paid training takes place over two weeks for 10–15 hours. The role also includes mileage reimbursement for travel from home to school and back, prompt reimbursement for grocery shopping, and a phone stipend.

No professional culinary experience is required.

Nice To Haves

Experience as a teacher, para-professional, retired educator, coach, camp counselor, childcare provider, chef, or home cook.
College student status or experience as an enthusiastic educator seeking part-time work.

Responsibilities

Lead groups of 15–20 students in grades K–8 through hands-on cooking activities.
Teach fun, healthy recipes using the provided curriculum.
Introduce students to basic cooking, nutrition, and kitchen safety.
Keep students engaged, excited, and involved.
Manage setup, cooking, and cleanup.
Grocery shop and prepare ingredients as needed.
Transport program supplies to the school.
