About The Position

LIFT Enrichment is hiring enthusiastic Chef Teachers to lead fun, hands-on cooking workshops for elementary school students in Title I schools. The role serves schools in Hawthorne USD and Inglewood USD and involves leading students through cooking activities using the company’s provided curriculum, cookbooks, and recipes. No professional chef experience is required; training is provided. The seasonal, part-time schedule is 2–3 days per week, Monday through Friday, from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. A typical day includes teaching two workshops, with approximately five paid hours covering grocery shopping, preparation, teaching, and cleanup. Paid training takes place over two weeks and totals 10–15 hours. The pay rate is $28 per hour. The position also includes mileage reimbursement for travel from home to the school and back, prompt reimbursement for grocery shopping, and a phone stipend. Program supplies must be transported to the school.

Able to commute to assigned schools.
Interested in cooking and working with children; professional culinary experience is not required.

Nice To Haves

Experience or background as a teacher, paraprofessional, retired educator, coach, camp counselor, childcare provider, chef, home cook, or college student.

Responsibilities

Lead groups of 15–20 students in grades K–8 through hands-on cooking activities.
Teach fun, healthy recipes using the provided curriculum.
Introduce students to basic cooking, nutrition, and kitchen safety.
Keep students engaged, excited, and involved.
Manage setup, cooking, and cleanup.
Grocery shop and prepare ingredients as needed.
Transport program supplies to the school.
