About The Position

The After Hours Supervisor (Key Carrier) is a full-time leadership position responsible for supervising the evening operations team and preparing the store for the next business day. Under the direction of Store Management, this role oversees stocking, inventory management, merchandising, store recovery, backroom organization, and store-closing procedures after peak customer traffic. The position supports operational efficiency and inventory accuracy, allowing daytime associates to focus on customer service while ensuring the store opens fully stocked, organized, and customer-ready.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively with fellow employees, management, customers, and vendors using both verbal and written skills.
  • Able to understand, follow, and deliver complex operational instructions to complete task assignments.
  • General knowledge of computers, retail software, and electronic inventory systems.
  • Requires strong attention to detail, concentration, and constant alertness to operational, closing, and safety standards.
  • Mathematical skills to calculate pricing, discounts, taxes, returns, quantities, and perform inventory verifications or nightly financial reconciliations.
  • Ability to work under operational deadlines, demonstrate effective leadership decision-making, and exercise sound judgment.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks at the same time and organize work to complete nightly assignments efficiently.
  • Occasional push, pull, and/or lift up to 60 lbs. of materials, including lifting and maneuvering up to 100 lbs. of merchandise using a hand truck.
  • Ability to stand and walk for durations up to 8 hours at a time.
  • Frequent reaching, twisting, turning, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping, and squeezing.
  • Frequent climbing of step stools or ladders to manage overhead inventory locations.
  • Manual dexterity to operate computers, handheld devices, and basic tools.
  • Ability to be certified to operate a forklift as assigned.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous retail operations, stocking, inventory handling, or customer service experience preferred.
  • Prior supervisory, leadership, or key holder experience highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Leads, directs, and works collaboratively with the After Hours Sales Associates to maintain a consistent operational rhythm.
  • Serves as a Key Carrier, executing regular evening hours and performing mandatory store-closing and lock-up procedures on scheduled workdays.
  • Prepares price labels and signage for the evening operations team to install.
  • Oversees and coordinates the weekly evening operational cycle, including Sunday weekend recovery , Tuesday store preparation , Wednesday freight processing , and Thursday freight completion .
  • Supervise the receiving, unloading, and processing of scheduled freight deliveries and truck shipments.
  • Ensures merchandise is replenished accurately and efficiently from the stockroom to the sales floor according to company standards.
  • Directs store recovery efforts by ensuring assigned departments front-face merchandise, organize shelves, straighten displays, and maintain cleanliness.
  • Coordinates the down stocking of merchandise from overheads and backstock locations to maximize product availability.
  • Performs and delegates regular inventory management tasks, including cycle counts, zero counts, negative on-hand investigations, and inventory audits.
  • Utilizes and ensures the proper team usage of handheld inventory devices to verify inventory accuracy.
  • Researches and communicates inventory discrepancies to store management to improve inventory accuracy and reduce shrink.
  • Ensures the accurate team execution of planograms, merchandising schematics, and promotional or seasonal displays.
  • Maintains a clean, organized, safe, and efficient stockroom by consolidating overstock and organizing inventory locations.
  • Enforces all company safety policies and procedures, ensuring freight and supplies are stored safely.
  • Remains alert to potential security, safety, and shoplifting issues, reporting any incidents or concerns immediately to management.
  • Helps train new evening operations associates and cashiers.
  • Assists store management in the annual preparation and taking of the store's physical inventory.
  • Performs and oversees general housekeeping duties to maintain the professional appearance of the sales floor, fixtures, and stockroom premises.
  • Promptly and accurately performs any other related operational and leadership duties as assigned by store management.
