About The Position

The African American Cultural Liaison is an administrative support position available at both Central Middle School and Eden Prairie High School. This role is compensated at a rate of $27.81 per hour, based on the CLASS 2025-2026 Employee Agreement. The position requires working 8 hours per day for 185 days per year, with a typical schedule from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, and includes 6 paid holidays. The primary purpose of this role is to foster intercultural competence within the school environment, specifically by engaging with African American populations. Key functions include possessing deep knowledge of African American cultural norms and diversity, effectively explaining cultural contexts, assisting African American students and families in navigating the U.S. educational systems, and bridging cultural gaps. The liaison is also expected to maintain confidentiality and appropriate boundaries. Beyond cultural expertise, the role demands strong collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. The ideal candidate will be proactive and resourceful, capable of anticipating needs, identifying opportunities for system improvement, supporting colleagues, and addressing challenges before they escalate. Proficiency in data analysis and technology, including Microsoft Office and Google Tools (Docs, Forms, Slides), is also required. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are essential for this position.
