About The Position

We are seeking an Aerospace Test & Evaluation Lab Technician to support structural testing, materials evaluation, and mechanical characterization of aerospace components, aircraft structures, and composite materials in Tukwila, WA. This role involves conducting static, fatigue, proof, and materials testing using servo-hydraulic and mechanical test systems, MTS software applications, data acquisition systems, and engineering analysis tools while supporting commercial and military aerospace programs.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Associate degree and typically 1+ years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in a laboratory, testing, engineering, manufacturing, or technical environment.
  • Experience supporting mechanical testing, materials testing, structural testing, or laboratory operations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Windows-based computer systems and standard PC applications.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand test setups, equipment operation, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Ability to follow detailed test procedures, engineering instructions, and safety requirements.
  • Experience collecting, documenting, and reporting technical data.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience planning and executing structural static, fatigue, proof, or durability testing.
  • Experience testing metallic and composite aerospace structures, components, or airframe assemblies.
  • Familiarity with structural test equipment including servo-hydraulic test systems, load frames, load cells, fixtures, and instrumentation.
  • Experience with MTS software applications including TWE, MPT, TW4, and MTS 793.
  • Experience using CAD software such as CATIA, SolidWorks, or similar engineering design tools.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Python, SQL, or other data analysis and reporting tools.
  • Experience performing data reduction, engineering analysis, and technical report generation.
  • Aerospace, aviation, defense, or engineering laboratory experience.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced testing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct mechanical testing of aerospace materials, aircraft components, subassemblies, and structural test articles to determine mechanical properties and performance characteristics.
  • Develop, fabricate, and validate test articles, fixtures, load introduction systems, instrumentation strategies, and test setups to achieve engineering test objectives.
  • Operate servo-hydraulic and mechanical-screw load frames using MTS testing software applications and associated data acquisition systems.
  • Execute testing in accordance with ASTM, aerospace, military, and internal engineering specifications.
  • Coordinate test requirements and determine appropriate test methods, equipment capabilities, and instrumentation approaches.
  • Collaborate with design engineering and fabrication teams to develop test configurations and support test readiness activities.
  • Operate test equipment hardware and software to implement approved test plans and detailed procedures.
  • Follow established safety plans, test procedures, compliance requirements, and operational checklists.
  • Collect, process, reduce, and analyze test data to evaluate structural performance and material behavior.
  • Prepare technical reports, engineering documentation, test summaries, and findings for engineering review.
  • Support multiple concurrent test programs and assist team members with test setup, execution, troubleshooting, and documentation activities.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, fixtures, instrumentation, and testing systems to ensure operational readiness.
  • Troubleshoot test equipment, instrumentation, and data acquisition issues as required.
