About The Position

The Aerospace Painter is responsible for applying spray coatings using a gravity-fed handheld spray gun in confined spaces. This role involves a range of tasks including mixing, thinning, priming, baking, painting, and drying. The painter will monitor coating application and adherence to work instructions and customer specifications, and perform masking and preparation tasks. Ensuring even coating application and maintaining high-quality standards are key. The position also includes routine preventative maintenance on paint booths and cure ovens, cleaning of painting equipment, and proper waste disposal of hazardous materials. Quality documentation and self-inspection using various tools are also part of the role, along with adherence to 5s/CPEX policies and a continuous improvement mindset.

Requirements

  • Must have HS Diploma or GED.
  • Strong shop mathematics, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals and fractions required.
  • Must be able to follow instructions, read and interpret blue prints.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Must be fluent in English, (speaking, reading, writing).

Nice To Haves

  • Previous painting and/or powder coating experience using handheld spray gun preferred.
  • Detailed masking experience preferred.
  • On the job experience of 3-5 years in manufacturing environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Spray coating application with gravity fed handheld spray gun in confined space using rotating shop stand.
  • Mixing, thinning, priming, baking, painting, drying.
  • Monitor coating application and coating adherence per work instructions, and customer specifications.
  • Perform tasks including masking/prep in accordance with work instructions and customer specifications.
  • Ensure even coating is applied to parts and as directed by traveler.
  • Performs all work in accordance with plant safety rules and maintains highest quality standards.
  • Performs routine preventative maintenance on all paint booth, cure ovens, and other routine labor work as required in accordance with production flow.
  • Maintain and clean painting equipment and tools.
  • Follow proper waste disposal procedures for hazardous materials.
  • Prepare necessary quality documents and confirm quality of own work using inspection tools in accordance with product specifications, blueprints, drawings, and work instructions.
  • Adhere to all 5s / CPEX policies and have a continuous improvement mindset.
