About The Position

Protective Coatings Inc. is seeking a Paint Mixer Level I (entry level) to join their team. This role involves receiving training on the receipt, labeling, stocking, and rotation of paint products, as well as area tooling and expendable materials. The selected candidate will learn about material aging processes, including the removal and disposition of expired product. They will also receive basic instruction on accessing and using written and electronic data for mixing and documenting numerous aerospace and defense coating systems. These materials are mixed on demand for application to customer products for OEMs such as Boeing Co., Bombardier, Cessna, Sikorsky, Raytheon, and Lockheed Martin. The role will involve familiarity with viscometers (Zahn and Ford cups) for determining reduction ratios, analytical gram scales for proportioning and adjusting component ratios, and pneumatic and electric paint agitators. Coating systems include polyurethanes, polyesters, epoxies, Teflon, elastomeric, intumescent, and EMI/RFI conductive finishes. Candidates must be self-disciplined, self-motivated, possess strong accountability and attention to detail, and be flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced production environment. Resourcefulness, innovation, strong business ethics, compliance with leadership and company policies, and good communication skills are essential. Other responsibilities include maintaining a clean and organized work area and adhering to safety rules and regulations.

Requirements

  • Thorough understanding and use of English in both written and verbal formats.

  • Excellent vision (corrected or uncorrected) including normal color vision.

Responsibilities

  • Labeling, stocking, and rotation of paint products.
  • Managing the ageing, removal, and disposition of expired product.
  • Inventory, retrieval, stocking, and maintenance of all area expendables such as mixing containers, filters, forms, labels, tooling, and gauging.
  • Cleaning and maintenance of the paint locker and mixing station.
  • Routing of mixed product to the appropriate spray station or point of use.
  • Reviewing and assimilating work instructions specific to paint type and process requirements.
  • Accessing information specific to products and processes using available electronic databases, technical data sheets, and other written forms of instruction.
  • Providing for the proportional mixing and reduction of basic paint materials for on-demand application to customer product in direct support of up to 12 applicators per shift.
  • Documenting mixing processes in both digital and analog formats.
  • Working closely with area leadership to complete work and prioritize tasks.
  • Understanding and maintaining best safety practices in accordance with prescribed directives.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work area.
  • Adherence to organization safety rules and regulations.
