About The Position

PGS Worldwide is seeking Aeronautical Engineers – Solid Rocket Motors in Elkton, Maryland for a one-year onsite contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. These positions will support the design, development, analysis, testing, and production of solid-propellant rocket motor systems for missile, launch vehicle, and space applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 2+ years of relevant experience; or master’s degree with 3 years of relevant experience; or PhD with 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Experience applying engineering principles to the design and development of aerospace, mechanical, aeronautical, or propulsion systems.
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Ability to interpret customer requirements and translate them into engineering design requirements.
  • Experience supporting engineering design, analysis, testing, or product development activities.
  • Ability to develop or support detailed engineering drawings for component fabrication.
  • Ability to perform engineering calculations supporting component or system sizing and performance.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense Secret clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with rocketry, solid rocket motors, aerospace propulsion systems, missiles, flight vehicles, or energetic systems.
  • Experience with Siemens NX and Teamcenter.
  • Experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
  • Mechanical, Aerospace, and/or Aeronautical Engineering experience.
  • Strong understanding of engineering design principles.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Knowledge of ASME Y14.5-2009.
  • Experience with Design for Assembly and Design for Manufacturing (DFA/DFM).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a project engineer supporting solid rocket motor programs.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to meet program milestones and customer requirements.
  • Work with customers to understand technical requirements and design drivers.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary design, optimization, and analysis activities.
  • Design solid rocket motor assemblies and components with an emphasis on safety, performance, and program requirements.
  • Perform high-level performance and sizing calculations for rocket motor components and assemblies.
  • Apply engineering principles, industry standards, company standards, and customer requirements to propulsion-system development.
  • Support solid-propellant propulsion systems used in launch vehicles, missile systems, and space applications.
  • Produce detailed engineering drawings supporting component fabrication.
  • Support analysis and testing activities used to verify and validate designs.
