About The Position

The Aeronautical Engineer I contributes to the design of certified and experimental aircraft across various platforms and DeltaHawk engine configurations. This role involves designing components, creating aircraft installations, developing flight test plans and producing drawings and specifications. They work closely with senior engineers to become subject matter experts in aircraft engine installation, system design, and testing.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited school in aerospace, mechanical, or systems engineering or an equivalent.
  • 0-2 years of experience in the aerospace, automotive, or other transportation industry (or related) integrating powertrain, thermal, structural, and electrical elements to create functional installation packages.
  • Strong working knowledge of SolidWorks or similar drafting / modeling program.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience performing structural FEA and/or CFD analysis.
  • STC project experience working with the FAA or other regulatory agency.
  • Solid knowledge of GD&T.
  • Sport pilot license or greater.
  • A&P mechanic certification.

Responsibilities

  • Under the mentorship of senior engineering, design and develop aircraft engine installations.
  • Installation package designs include the development of mounting structures, cowling, cooling systems, fuel distribution, oil feed systems, instrumentation, electrical harnesses, and the integration of mechanical or electromechanical control systems.
  • Develop system requirements and specifications.
  • Collaborate with technicians and engineering to oversee installations and work through problems as they arise.
  • Develop flight test plans, assist with execution, and review of data for results.
  • Assist in the development of regulatory certification plans.
  • Work with suppliers to specify parts and materials for installations.
  • Interact with customers to provide design data and troubleshooting for aircraft installations.
