About The Position

SpaceWorks Enterprises is seeking an aerospace engineer with expertise in aerodynamics to help design and develop next-generation hypersonic flight vehicles, Earth-to-orbit launch systems, human and robotic spacecraft, and space re-entry vehicles. The role supports a small multidisciplinary technical team and involves modeling, simulation, and design of high-speed flight systems, including endo-atmospheric, re-entry, and launch systems. The engineer will develop and optimize aerodynamic designs from concept development and requirements definition through preliminary and detailed design. The role also involves detailed analysis to predict and improve aerodynamic performance, use of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and lower-order methods for performance evaluation, and assessment of how configuration changes affect vehicle performance. The position is in-office at SpaceWorks’ Atlanta, Georgia facility, with telework days and other flexible scheduling options available.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience; internships and research count toward this requirement.
  • Experience in the design or modeling of hypersonic atmospheric vehicles, Earth-to-orbit launch systems, or human and robotic spacecraft.
  • Experience in multidisciplinary design optimization.
  • Hands-on experience with trajectory optimization software, CFD tools, MATLAB/Simulink, or equivalent simulation platforms.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary, collaborative environment with ownership and autonomy typical of a small business.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and immediately eligible to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
  • Bring an open-minded, solution-oriented approach and a willingness to contribute.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced disciplinary experience with multidisciplinary analysis and optimization of high-speed flight and/or launch vehicle design.
  • Experience in relevant aerospace-oriented flight development programs, such as UAVs, missiles, or CubeSats.
  • Basic knowledge of Monte Carlo analysis, uncertainty analysis, or risk analysis.
  • Small business experience.
