About The Position

Amentum is hiring an Aerodynamics Engineer for the JETSII contract supporting NASA’s deep space exploration work. The role applies expertise in Earth-entry and abort aerodynamics to human-rated spacecraft, conducts spacecraft-entry analyses using aerodynamic CFD solvers, and performs detailed analyses across a broad range of flight regimes. The engineer also interprets aerodynamic and aerothermal ground-test and flight data, and develops CFD grids and visualizations using relevant software. Other duties may be assigned as required. The position has been advertised at multiple levels, and candidates may be considered at any advertised level based on experience, requirements, and business needs. The typical educational and experience qualification is a bachelor’s degree or equivalent with at least 15 years of experience. Salary starts at $126,700; final compensation depends on experience, skills, and qualifications. The work is generally in an office, though tasks may involve indoor or outdoor work. The position requires regular attendance and the ability to adjust schedules for peak periods and surge requirements. U.S. citizenship or permanent residency may be required, and candidates must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.

Requirements

  • Typically, a bachelor’s degree or equivalent with at least 15 years of experience.
  • Expertise in aerodynamics in subsonic through hypersonic flight regimes.
  • Experience with a NASA aerodynamics CFD solver such as CART3D, FUN3D, or OVERFLOW.
  • Expertise in entry and abort vehicles, including aerodynamics, trajectories, loads, and performance analysis.
