  • Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET Security Clearance
  • Experience or academic background in ballistic testing, experimentation, or engineering analysis related to projectile or munition systems.
  • Proficiency with computer-aided design (CAD) tools (e.g., SolidWorks) and understanding of CAD best practices.
  • Experience with data analysis tools such as MATLAB, Mathematica, or LabVIEW.
  • Knowledge of aerodynamics, flight mechanics, and related physical principles.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis, data collection, and test and evaluation methodologies.
  • Ability to work with large datasets and apply analytical techniques to derive meaningful insights.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce technical documentation and presentations.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and execute experimental programs to assess and quantify aeroballistics phenomena associated with the free flight of projectiles and munitions.
  • Conduct engineering analysis to support weapon concept development and provide physics-based explanations of observed behaviors during launch and flight.
  • Perform testing across a range of systems including small, medium, and large caliber weapons, man-portable systems, optics, signature suppression devices, and ammunition concepts.
  • Develop and implement experimental techniques and instrumentation to measure physical phenomena associated with launch and flight.
  • Apply statistical methods and error analysis to assess data quality and ensure accuracy of results.
  • Develop and utilize computer-based techniques for processing and analyzing large datasets.
  • Apply principles of aerodynamics, flight mechanics, heat transfer, and acoustics to predict and quantify projectile behavior.
  • Conduct modeling and simulation using engineering tools such as CAD software, preliminary design tools, and trajectory simulation programs.
  • Support development of new and innovative weapon system concepts to improve aeroballistics performance.
