The Division of Undergraduate Education and Student Success (UESS) is dedicated to promoting academic excellence, universal access, engagement, and achievement for all undergraduate students at the University of Oregon. UESS provides essential resources and services that foster persistence, enhance academic performance, and guide students toward timely graduation. The Accessible Education Center (AEC), a part of UESS, specifically focuses on facilitating and supporting access and inclusion for students with disabilities by coordinating services, determining accommodations, providing advocacy, and collaborating with various campus stakeholders to create accessible environments. Access Advisors are integral to this mission, working within a team to ensure the full inclusion of students with disabilities into the university environment through proactive advising, collaboration with faculty and staff, and driving systemic campus change. They function as accessibility specialists and case managers, supporting students with diverse needs including mental health, chronic health conditions, learning disabilities, and ADHD. Access Advisors collaborate with instructors and campus entities to ensure reasonable accommodations and universal design principles are considered, and may deliver presentations to students, parents, and university employees. They also have opportunities to coordinate and participate in AEC projects. This role operates in a fast-paced office setting, providing year-round advising and accommodation guidance, and requires the ability to work with diverse students facing various challenges, including crisis or scholastic difficulty. The position emphasizes professionalism, collegiality, cultural humility, and agility in a team environment, aiming to create a welcoming, inclusive, and accessible atmosphere.
